Curtis started as R&D Engineer at Trimco in February of 2015. He was a former employee of Black & Decker when he was brought onboard by Jason, our CEO/President. Curtis has never held any other positions at Trimco, he enjoys his job very much and is a key part of many innovative products that we manufacture.
When we asked what some of his biggest challenges were at Trimco, he mentioned his work with some of our patented products. “My first big project was our Patented Wall Strike. Specifically, getting the configurability and adjustability to work perfectly with our 1074 Series. There are so many different aspects and variables to account for when engineering a locking and latching mechanism.”
His favorite memory at Trimco was his first day testing the Lockdown Hardware prototype. “Hitting that Lockdown Hardware quick release panic button on the exit device for the first time and having it function perfectly was a great feeling!” Curtis was also fortunate to have his son Evan work as a summer intern with Trimco which also ranks as one of his top memories at Trimco. Curtis’ daily motto is “It is always okay to do the right thing.” (Even when nobody is looking). This is one of our Live The T attributes! His favorite Live The T attribute is Embrace Change – “My job is all about creating change and making improvements to products as an R&D Engineer.”
One thing that may surprise people about Curtis is besides his surfing and cycling hobbies is that he also has a love for the arts. Curtis is a season ticket holder to the Old Globe Theatre, where he attends plays and classical concerts with his wife during their free time.
When we asked Curtis why he has stayed with Trimco for as long as he has, he said “I love the work environment and company culture. I also believe in the leadership; Jason and Adam have done a great job thus far. They are taking the company in the right direction and it shows through our growth and innovative solutions (Which I am a big part of).” He plans on working at Trimco until he retires, which hopefully is no time soon!
